What's the difference between Fast and Anonymous mode?

The default mode for the NymVPN is the Anonymous mode (including Entry and Exit Gateways), which means that the traffic goes from the local client to Entry Gateway -> through 5 servers via mixnet -> to Exit Gateway -> Internet. This option uses all the Nym Mixnet features for maximum privacy.

Our Fast mode offers an everyday privacy solution using a decentralized VPN mode, powered by Wireguard. It also uses a 2-hop tunnel-in-a-tunnel setup. You can read more about this in our How does NymVPN implement Wireguard article.
